Wooden utensils and blocks should to be maintained regularly. Warm soapy water can be used to clean the utensils and boards, do not use abrasives or powder cleansers. Do not allow moisture to stand on surface for a prolonged period of time. Make sure you wipe off excess water on top, sides and on the bottom. Do not submerge the wood in water. It will absorb water and cause cracking as it dries.
To increase the life of the your wooden product, season it regularly with mineral oil and beeswax.
The general rule of thumb for oiling a block is to oil it once a day for a week upon purchase, then once a week for a month and once a month for as long as you have it.
Your wooden product should also be oiled when it starts to look dry and chalky.
Do not use in the dishwasher.
The boards can be used for both serving and cutting. Using a sharp knife on the surface will leave marks behind, though this will add character to the board. Try using one side for cutting and one side for serving.
